Globe terminal is located in Keelung at the northern end of Taiwan. It is an inland container storage yard associated with the nearby port, and is operated by American President Lines. The terminal’s paving was in a poor state of repair and constant maintenance, in the form of asphalt overlays and replacing panels of portland cement concrete, was necessary on an annual basis. Nigel Nixon and Partners, Inc. were employed by A.P.L. to developed a rehabilitation scheme using concrete pavers as an overlay to the existing asphalt and portland cement concrete pavements, with some limited replacement of the existing paving materials. The existing drainage system was also modified to improve subgrade conditions.
